Please note while reading this that I am christian, and was before reading this.
You guys have all probably heard of pascal's wager right? If you haven't the tl;dr version states that you've got more to gain by believing in god because if he happens to be real and you happen to be atheist, you're screwed.
I have a new wager for those of us who are already aware that god exists. This is why I posted on /x/.
It's an argument for why we should believe in Jesus Christ and become protestant Christians.
Here's the pre-requisite.
1.The universe must be just.
By "just" I mean fair. If the universe isn't fair, then we're already in hell, argument over.
So if we establish that the universe is fair, we are to be held accountable for our actions and the intent behind those actions.
This would imply that a sinful action committed out of ignorance shouldn't be punished as harshly as one in which you knew exactly what you were doing.
If you believe that jesus died for your sins, it would be unfair for the universe to punish you in any way.
Why?
Because even if jesus wasn't real, you honestly believed you would be forgiven for your sins. In the grand court of karma, you could plead ignorance.
You can't be held accountable for being ignorant, therefore, you have a get-out-of-jail free card for your accumulated spiritual debt, with jesus.
Whether jesus is real or not, is of no concequence, he can save you anyway.
